Welcome to Cooperative Research Project using Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer (IRMS)

The Center for Ecological research (CER), Kyoto University was established in 1991 as an inter-university joint-use facility aimed at promoting basic research and international cooperative work in the field of ecology. Prof. Eitaro Wada, who found the trophic enrichment in 15N along food chain, has started a joint-use system of isotope ratio mass spectrometer (IRMS) in 1992 and more than 200 papers appeared so far.

In 2010, the CER was re-established as a Joint Usage / Research Center whose aim is for promoting basic research and international cooperation in the field of ecology.

The stable isotope laboratory in the CER is open to any scientists who conduct ecological research using stable isotope analysis as a research tool.

If you intend to conduct some research using stable isotope analysis at CER, don’t hesitate to send an e-mail to Dr. Koba for further discussion.

We are looking forward to having your application.

We provide reference materials for carbon and nitrogen isotope ratios, which were calibrated in the following paper.
